Sherzod Shermatov speaks about possibility of swapping mobile operator without changing the number

ICT Minister Sherzod Shermatov answered the question of Kun.uz correspondent about when it will be possible to change the mobile operator while retaining the number. The minister said that security issues are being worked on in this system, as there is a risk of another person calling from one person’s number.

At the international press club session, the Minister of ICT Sherzod Shermatov answered a question about the MNP system.

According to him, the system is almost finished, only integration issues remain.

“The technological solution to transfer your number from one operator to another operator has almost been developed. Integration and security issues remain. That means there are important security aspects, for example, someone else might call someone on your behalf. We will bring these cases to an end with other state bodies,” the minister said.

According to Shermatov, this system is not a problem of development of IT export, right to full use of IT services.

He also emphasized that the term “mobile slavery” is not very accurate.

“There is a MNP system in the world, but it has not had any impact on the exports or the production of goods. It is difficult for many people to change numbers tomorrow. Because consumers can use this system to retain their number if there is a big difference between operators or if a company closes. We will let you know when things are finished. As I said, we have areas to agree with the relevant authorities,” the minister said.

Earlier, Kun.uz wrote about the fact that “mobile slavery” is still not being stopped, and the promises in this regard are being pushed back.

For information, the MNP is such a system that the subscriber of any mobile communication company of Uzbekistan can change the company while retaining his phone number.
