Aziz Voitov suspected of embezzlement and abuse of official power
According to the Supreme Court press service, the former Minister of Agriculture is suspected of having committed crimes under Articles 167 and 205 of the Criminal Code and has been placed in pre-trial detention.
The Supreme Court of Uzbekistan confirmed the arrest of the country's former Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov.
According to the press service of the court, the Yashnabad district court on criminal proceedings considered the petition of the deputy chief prosecutor to apply a precautionary measure in the form of "detention" against Aziz Voitov.
The former minister is charged with Article 167-3, Paragraph "a" (embezzlement) and Article 205-2, Paragraph "a" of the Criminal Code (causing a large amount of damage as a result of abuse of official power) is suspected of having committed the mentioned crimes.
He was arrested under Article 221 (reasons for detention) of the Criminal Procedural Code.
The Yashnabad district court granted the request of the deputy prosecutor general with its ruling on December 14, 2023 and ordered that the suspect Aziz Voitov be placed in pre-trial detention.
For information, 43-year-old Aziz Voitov headed the Ministry of Agriculture from August 2022 to October 2023.
