CEC logs representatives of political parties in Uzbekistan

According to the press service of the Central Election Commission, in accordance with the Electoral Code of Uzbekistan, a political party that nominated candidates for deputies has the right to appoint an authorized representative to participate in meetings of the election commission, submit documents, check the correctness of signature sheets, and count votes at the polling station.

The registration of an authorized representative is carried out on the basis of the Regulation on the authorized representative of a political party, approved by the CEC, according to which the head of the highest body of a political party appoints his authorized representative within 5 days from the date of the official announcement of the start of the election campaign, and also submits the relevant documents to the CEC for his registration.

In this regard, the leaders of the political parties operating in our country appointed their authorized representatives and applied to the CEC for their registration, which was carried out for the first time through the “E-saylov” information system.

The meeting reviewed the documents of the authorized representatives recommended by the leaders of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen – the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the “Adolat” Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the “Milliy tiklanish” Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, and adopted a resolution on their registration and issuance of mandates of the established form to them.

The CEC registration process was also carried out through the “E-saylov” information system, through which the mandates were transferred to the authorized representatives in electronic form.

On the same day, the authorized representatives were given signature sheets of the established form for collecting signatures of voters supporting the participation of political parties in the elections.

It is known that a political party can nominate candidates for deputy, provided that it is registered by the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan no later than 4 months before the announcement of the start of the election campaign and has collected at least 40,000 signatures of voters supporting its participation in the elections. In one administrative-territorial entity (Republic of Karakalpakstan, region, city of Tashkent), a political party can collect no more than 8% of signatures from 40,000 voters.
