“Half of electric charging stations in Uzbekistan are located in Tashkent” – Ministry of Economy and Finance

Half of the electric vehicle charging stations in Uzbekistan are located in Tashkent, the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Finance reports.

As of August of this year, there are 703 electric charging stations in the republic, of which 347 (49.3% of the total) are located in Tashkent. The top five include Tashkent (70 units), Namangan (39), Jizzakh (37) and Fergana (35) regions.

More than 30 electric charging stations have also been installed in Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions. The smallest number of electric car charging stations is recorded in Karakalpakstan – only 9 units.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the number of “users” of electric charging stations has exceeded 80 thousand units. However, the agency does not specify what it means by “users”.

In May, the procedure for installing and connecting electric vehicle charging stations to the power grid was simplified. The period for legal entities to obtain permits for electric charging stations will not exceed one month.

In June, Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced a special night tariff for charging electric vehicles.

It is planned to allow electric charging stations with a capacity of up to 22 kW near multi-story buildings, and up to 7 kW in private homes.

Last month, the first deputy head of the Regional Electric Networks, Alvar Gaybullayev, spoke about plans to introduce separate energy consumption metering for electric charging stations. Charging stations will receive a special account, and the tariff may be 900 soums per 1 kW/h.
