Naomi Campbell praises Uzbekistan’s creative potential during visit
Naomi Campbell, a model, activist, and entrepreneur, talked about her fame as a model and the love and effort she puts into her life’s journey during an exclusive interview with Kun.uz. She also highlighted Uzbekistan's flourishing development and the rise of young creatives in the fashion industry.
Passion Beyond Fame
When asked about her four-decade-long career in the fashion industry, Campbell was quick to clarify that fame has never been her primary focus. “My passion lies in my work, and that’s what takes precedence,” she explained. According to Campbell, her approach has always been driven by a genuine interest in the creative process rather than the allure of fame.
Although Campbell has significantly influenced public perception through her work, she emphasized that her engagement with projects stems from personal resonance rather than an intent to shape opinions. “I’m not actively seeking to influence public opinion. It’s always about what speaks to me personally,” she said.
Throughout her career, Campbell has used her platform to advocate for international causes and personal passions. Her work, she says, is intertwined with her charitable efforts, and she fully dedicates herself to causes that are meaningful to her.
Interest in Uzbek Fashion and Textiles
During her visit, Campbell expressed a keen interest in Uzbekistan’s burgeoning creative industries. With a youthful and vibrant population, Uzbekistan’s potential in fashion and textiles particularly stood out to her. “I genuinely wish to witness firsthand the creations of young Uzbek talents,” she said, adding that she hopes to return to explore their work in person.
Campbell recognized the country’s deep-rooted heritage in fashion and textiles, noting that the government’s recent efforts to promote these sectors are a positive step toward building viable career paths for young designers. She expressed optimism about Uzbekistan’s future in the global fashion scene, stating, “I would love to see the talented designers of Uzbekistan showcased on the global stage.”
A Vision for Global Collaboration
Campbell also acknowledged the government’s initiative to develop fashion and textiles as promising export opportunities, which she finds inspiring. Her visit signals potential collaborations that could put Uzbekistan’s creative industries on the international map, further advancing the country's cultural and economic growth.
As Uzbekistan continues to invest in its creative sectors, Campbell’s endorsement of the country's fashion potential and her desire to engage with its emerging talent hint at exciting prospects for global recognition.
