Border authorities stop smuggling attempt, seize 6.7 kg of diamond-studded jewelry 

During a routine inspection, customs officers conducted a personal search of the woman and discovered 19 packages strapped to her upper legs and hidden within her clothing. Upon further examination, these packages contained 468 pieces of gold jewelry set with diamonds, consisting of nine different types of items.

Further inspection revealed that the woman had also attempted to use her minor granddaughter to smuggle additional jewelry. Twelve packages containing 454 pieces of gold and diamond-studded jewelry of eight types were found concealed within the girl's clothing.

In total, 922 pieces of jewelry weighing approximately 6.7 kilograms were seized, with an estimated value of 5.6 billion UZS. The Customs Committee’s Press Service confirmed that the jewelry was confiscated, and authorities have initiated an investigation into the attempted smuggling operation.
