Uzbekistan climbs to 62nd place in World Bank's Statistical Performance Index

This marks a notable improvement from 2022 when the country ranked 79th with 74.1 points. Among the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, Uzbekistan now ranks 4th, reflecting its continued progress in strengthening its national statistical system.

The SPI measures the efficiency of a country’s statistical activities, highlighting achievements and the impact of reforms on the development of the national statistical framework. Uzbekistan's higher ranking in 2023 can be attributed to several key factors:

1. Adoption of Advanced Quality Management Systems: Uzbekistan integrated global best practices such as the Generic Statistical Business Process Model (GSBPM) and Generic Statistical Information Model (GSIM) into its national statistical system.
2. Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): The development and regular publication of national SDG indicators, based on the United Nations' global SDG indicators, contributed to the country's improved performance.
3. Enhanced Data Transparency: Official statistics are now more accessible and transparent for both national and international users. Uzbekistan’s socio-economic indicators are increasingly featured in international statistical publications and databases.
4. Modernization of the National Accounts System: The full implementation of the 2008 System of National Accounts (SNA) further boosted the country's statistical capacity.
