Shavkat Mirziyoyev elected chairman of Uzbekistan’s National Olympic Committee
On November 25, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was elected as Chairman of Uzbekistan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) during the organization’s General Assembly. Several key positions were also filled at the meeting, with Otabek Umarov appointed First Deputy Chairman, Sherzod Toshmatov named Deputy Chairman, and Oybek Qosimov elected Secretary-General.
According to the President’s Press Service, the assembly addressed critical organizational matters. The nomination of Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the chairmanship was unanimously approved by participants, reflecting broad support for his leadership in advancing the nation's Olympic ambitions.
Additionally, the assembly confirmed the appointments of other key officials to support the NOC’s mission. Otabek Umarov, who will serve as First Deputy Chairman, is expected to play a pivotal role in operational leadership. Sherzod Toshmatov and Oybek Qosimov were entrusted with strengthening the committee’s strategic and administrative functions as Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General, respectively.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, Odil Abdurakhmanov, Head of the Presidential Administration Department, Sports Minister Adham Ikramov, and members of the General Assembly, along with representatives of various sports federations and associations.
