Uzbekistan braces for cold front: Heavy rain and snow expected
Uzbekistan'a Meteorological Service, UzHydromet, has issued a warning about an impending cold and wet air mass expected to impact the country from November 29 to December 2. The forecast highlights a significant drop in temperatures, accompanied by heavy precipitation and strong winds in some regions.
From November 29 to December 1, intermittent rain is predicted across Uzbekistan, with certain areas expected to experience heavy downpours. On November 30 and December 1, some regions may see a transition from rain to snow as temperatures continue to fall.
By December 1-2, nighttime temperatures are projected to range between -3°C and +2°C in most parts of the country, with daytime temperatures reaching between +3°C and +8°C. In the northern regions, nighttime temperatures are expected to plunge further to -3°C to -8°C, with daytime readings hovering between -2°C and +3°C. Wind speeds may increase in some areas, reaching 13-18 meters per second.
The weather conditions could also pose risks in mountainous and foothill regions. From November 29 to December 1, flash floods and mudslides are possible due to the accumulation of rainwater. These events could lead to localized flooding in vulnerable areas.
Authorities are urging residents to take precautions, especially in regions prone to flooding or where weather conditions may disrupt daily activities.
