Several greenhouses and processing plants to be transferred to entrepreneurs

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has proposed a new initiative to enhance fruit and vegetable production, processing, and export during a video conference addressing agricultural sector challenges. The plan focuses on revitalizing unused assets and expanding Uzbekistan's presence in international markets.

Greenhouses, processing plants, and cold storage facilities currently under banks’ ownership have often been left idle, deteriorating over time. To address this, these facilities will be offered to experienced entrepreneurs under a three-year trust management agreement. Entrepreneurs who demonstrate positive results within this period will have the option to acquire these assets through installment payments over 10 years.

President Mirziyoyev also emphasized the need to extend the leasing system for agricultural equipment to include greenhouses, facilitating access to modern tools and technologies for improved productivity.

Uzbekistan has taken significant steps to boost its export footprint. For the first time, cherries, peaches, and apricots from Uzbekistan are being displayed in exclusive sections of major retail chains in Oman. Plans are underway to replicate this success in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, and Europe.

To support this effort, the government will cover costs for organizing trade fairs in these countries, and promoting Uzbek agricultural products on a global scale.
