Chinese company to build 300 MW solar power plant in Uzbekistan’s Navoi region

The investment agreement was formalized on November 29, during a signing ceremony attended by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Sinoma Energy Conservation International Investment Co., Ltd.’s CEO.

The solar power plant and accompanying infrastructure will be built in the Karmana district of Navoi. The project also involves the Uzbek chemical industry enterprise "Uzkimyosanoat," though its specific role has not been disclosed.

The initiative aligns with Uzbekistan’s ambitious energy strategy, which aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 40% of the country’s total consumption and achieve 25 GW of renewable capacity by 2030.

The addition of a 75 MW energy storage system is expected to enhance grid stability and support the integration of renewable energy into Uzbekistan’s power supply network. The overhead transmission lines will ensure the efficient distribution of electricity generated by the plant.

This project underscores the deepening economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, particularly in the field of sustainable energy. Sinoma EC International’s involvement reinforces China’s role as a key partner in Uzbekistan's energy transition and infrastructure modernization efforts.

Once operational, the solar power plant will make a substantial contribution to Uzbekistan’s renewable energy targets, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and lower greenhouse gas emissions, furthering the country’s commitment to sustainable development.
