Ahead of the holiday season, representatives of eight prominent retail networks — including Korzinka, Makro, Havas, Baraka, Magnum, Assorti, B1, and Magnit — met with the Competition Committee to discuss measures aimed at stabilizing food prices.

The committee emphasized the importance of addressing price volatility for socially significant food items and outlined steps to prevent unjustified price increases by suppliers or due to logistics costs.

The committee issued official instructions to the retail networks, mandating them to report any potential price changes from suppliers or rising logistical expenses. Additionally, they were reminded of their responsibility to ensure fair pricing practices and avoid contributing to inflationary pressures.

The meeting also tackled systemic issues related to the trade of essential food products within retail networks. Discussions centered on identifying factors influencing price changes and implementing measures to mitigate them.

This proactive approach aims to protect consumers from unnecessary financial strain during the holiday season and to ensure fair competition in the market. The committee reiterated its commitment to closely monitoring the pricing strategies of retail networks.
