Shavkat Mirziyoyev meets with ACWA Power Chairman
During a meeting between the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Chairman of the Saudi-Uzbek Business Council and ACWA Power, Mohammad Abunayyan, issues related to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with leading companies from Saudi Arabia were discussed.
The president expressed great satisfaction with the dynamic development of the effective partnership with ACWA Power, a strategic investor in Uzbekistan’s green energy sector. To date, four projects worth nearly $3 billion have been successfully implemented, while the portfolio of ongoing projects amounts to $15 billion.
In addition, a number of joint projects were inaugurated today. In Bukhara region, two wind power plants with a capacity of 500 MW were connected to the grid. Meanwhile, in Samarkand region, construction began on two solar power plants with a total capacity of 1 GW, as well as an energy storage system with a capacity of 334 MW in Tashkent region.
The meeting also focused on implementing cooperation projects in priority areas such as energy, modernization of transport and utility infrastructure, development of information and communication technologies, as well as textile manufacturing, agriculture, and other key sectors.
It was emphasized that expanding efforts to attract leading Saudi companies to Uzbekistan as part of the Joint Business Council’s activities is of significant importance.
