Uzbekistan to restrict electricity payments for waste service debtors
On December 17, the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan's Oliy Majlis held its regular session, during which several important issues were discussed, including amendments to address payment defaults for waste collection services.
Under the proposed legislation, consumers with outstanding waste collection fees will receive notifications via SMS regarding their overdue payments. If the debts are not settled within the notified period, the new legal provisions will allow for the temporary restriction of electricity bill payments until the waste collection debt is cleared.
The aim of the amendment is to enforce timely payments for municipal services and ensure better compliance with waste management obligations.
Deputies approved the bill in its first reading.
