Uzbekistan sets licensing fees for cryptocurrency service providers

The Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan has registered an order establishing state fees for licensing service providers operating in the cryptocurrency sector. The order outlines the applicable fees for different types of cryptocurrency-related activities, calculated in base calculation units (BCU) effective at the time of payment.

According to the document, the licensing fees are as follows:

•  Cryptocurrency exchanges: 73,400 BCU (27,525,000,000 UZS)
•  Mining pools: 3,000 BCU (1,125,000,000 UZS)
•  Crypto depositories: 7,000 BCU (2,625,000,000 UZS)
•  Crypto shops: 3,700 BCU (1,387,500,000 UZS)

As of October 1, 2024, the base calculation unit is set at 375,000 UZS.

It should be recalled that earlier, a 17-year-old teenager from Bukhara was arrested for engaging in unauthorized cryptocurrency transactions valued at 34 billion UZS (approximately $2.6 million).
