Uzbekistan maintains 80th place in Henley Passport Index for 2024

In 2024, Uzbekistan signed visa-free agreements with the UAE, Thailand, Oman, Pakistan, and is also planning one with China. Over the last 15 years, the number of visa-free destinations for Uzbek citizens has increased by nearly a third, from 47 in 2010 to 62 countries.

However, the Uzbek passport lags behind most post-Soviet countries. Belarus ranks 62nd (81 countries), Kazakhstan is 65th (77 countries), Azerbaijan is 70th (72 countries), Armenia is 74th (68 countries), and Kyrgyzstan is 78th (64 countries). Russia is ranked 46th (116 countries), although the closure of air links with the EU and the US has complicated international travel for its citizens.

At the top of the index, Singapore holds first place, with its citizens able to enter 195 countries and territories without prior notification, or by obtaining a visa upon arrival. Japan follows in second place, with access to 193 countries. The third spot is shared by six countries: Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Spain, all of whose citizens can travel visa-free to more than 192 countries. Other European nations and New Zealand round out the top five.

At the bottom of the ranking is Afghanistan, where citizens can visit only 26 countries without a visa. Other countries with limited access include Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Pakistan, and Somalia, all of which allow visa-free travel to fewer than 36 countries.
