Drunken passenger causes emergency landing on New York–Tashkent flight

A 26-year-old passenger consuming alcohol onboard caused a disturbance and inconvenienced other travelers. He had to be restrained, prompting the Boeing 787 aircraft to make an emergency landing in Tatarstan.

According to information from the Telegram channel Shot, the incident occurred on an Uzbekistan Airways flight on January 13. Sukhrob U., 26 years old, was intoxicated and began acting aggressively, ignoring warnings and continuing to disrupt order. As a result, he was restrained, and the plane made an emergency landing in Kazan at 6:10 a.m. local time.

After landing, the man was removed from the flight and handed over to the police, where a report was filed. The aircraft resumed its journey a few hours later and successfully landed in Tashkent.

Earlier, it was reported that a similar incident occurred in 2023 on the New York–Tashkent route. On that occasion, a drunken passenger forced the plane to land at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, causing $22,244 in damages for Uzbekistan Airways.
