Central Bank of Uzbekistan to issue gold and silver coins
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan launches issuing commemorative gold and silver coins as a pilot project, the press service of the bank reports.
The primary objective of the project is to “expand the opportunities of the population to invest and save, as well as the development of the precious metals market, taking into account international experience and practice”.
Two kinds of gold and 14 kinds of silver coins made from 999.9 sample metals and weighing 31.1 grams, issued in 1994-2009, are presented for sale.
The total number of coins put up for sale is 1,900 gold and 6,900 silver.
Commemorative coins are issued in circulation with a certificate of authenticity, confirming their technical characteristics. They comply with PROOF quality standards. The weight of the coin may deviate by 0.01 grams from the specified parameters due to production features.
The cost of commemorative coins is established by the Central Bank in national currency at least once a week.
Starting from November 28, 2018, commemorative coins of the Central Bank can be purchased in separate branches of commercial banks by means of payment in cash and cashless form.
