Shavkat Mirziyoyev: We will raise the schoolteacher’s salary up to $1,000
During the meeting of activists held at the administration of Andijan region, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev touched upon the issues of education too.
“Who needs six colleges in the Khanabad district? If we have paid school teachers 4-5 times more salary, they would have taught operating a tractor and computer as well at schools.
There are six colleges in one district. How much did it cost? Of course, we need a college, but one college could have been enough in one district.
Firstly, we had to prepare teachers for colleges. And now we have lost and destroyed the existing teachers, we have lost their trust,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The President asked Minister of Public Education Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education Inom Majidov, regional governor Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov and other officials to make proposals on the transfer of premises and equipment of vocational colleges in Andijan region to the Ministry of Public Education. Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to build schools at the new residential areas on the territory of the region and carry out overhaul repairs at school #1 in Khanabad city, school #20 in Jalakuduk district.
“Leave me the issues of accounting. Meet with the regional khokim and aksakals within 10 days, and think of how to increase the reputation of schools and teachers. Then we will apply the Andijan experience to the republic.
In future, we will raise the schoolteacher’s salary up to $1,000.
Why had we have misguided people for so many years, emerged different radical movements? There was no education, no knowledge and no school. There were walls left.
We have a lot of problems in this sphere. We are in a challenging situation. A teacher is the foundation of society,” Kun.uz correspondent quoted the President as saying.
