Uzbekistan repatriates 24 compatriots from Afghanistan as part of a humanitarian operation
Today, March 2, Uzbekistan carried out another humanitarian operation “Mehr-4”.
As part of the operation, 24 citizens of Uzbekistan were repatriated from Afghanistan through the Hayraton Bridge, which connects Surkhandarya region with the IRA. 19 of those evacuated are children, 4 of them - orphans.
“These citizens are being returned to the country in accordance with the instructions of the President. The joy in their eyes, the longing for the homeland show that the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan are aimed at preserving peace and protecting human rights.
Our citizens brought as part of the operation should know and feel the work being done in our country to raise human dignity to a higher level. Now the kindness and pardon have been demonstrated by our state, so they have to justify the trust placed in them,” Shukurullo Umarov, director of the Imam Termizi International Research Center, said.
It should be noted that from 2017 to 2020, 86 citizens were brought to Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Afghan special services.
On the Afghan side, Hayraton Commissioner Nuriddin Raufi stressed that these good deeds are being done thanks to the political will of the leaders of both countries.
Of the citizens repatriated from Afghanistan to date, 23 were men, 16 – women and 47 – children.
