Case of Otabek Sattoriy: punishment unchanged, two apartments returned
On July 15, the appellate court held the open trial on the criminal case of Otabek Sattoriy, the press secretary of the Supreme Court reported.
It is reported that, according to the court ruling adopted by the Appellate Judicial Collegium of the Samarkand Regional Criminal Court, the verdict of the Muzbat District Criminal Court of May 10, 2021, was changed.
Thus, the collegium canceled the part of the court verdict invalidating the contract for the sale of apartments No. 42 and No. 44 in house 6, located in the Marifat mahalla of Termez City, concluded between Otabek Sattoriy and the head of “Termiz Eko Ekspress loyiha” LLC on July 2, 2020, as well as on the recovery of the 234,835,000 soums from the head of LLC in favor of Otabek Sattoriy. The head of LLC has the right to appeal to the court on this issue in civil proceedings.
In addition, the court also canceled the payment of 183,750 soums for holding a court hearing in videoconference format.
The term of serving the sentence was set to start on January 30, 2021. The rest of the verdict remained unchanged.
To note, according to the verdict of the Muzrabat District Criminal Court of May 10, 2021, Otabek Sattoriy was found guilty under paragraphs “a” and “d” of part 3 of article 139 (Denigration), paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 165 (Extortion) of the Criminal Code. Based on article 57 (Mitigation of Penalty), article 59 (Inflicting Penalty in Instance of Multiple Crime), and article 61 (Rules of Credit in Case of Joinder of Penalties), he was sentenced to imprisonment for six and a half years.
