State to compensate damage caused to a person during investigation process
An appropriate amendment has been made to the Civil Code in this regard.
If a citizen’s dignity is violated during the investigation, the state shall compensate the damage caused to him. An amendment to the Civil Code was introduced under the law URQ-761 signed by the President on March 29, the Ministry of Justice reported.
Any damage caused by torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment against a person during the pre-trial interrogation, preliminary investigation shall be fully compensated by the state.
It should be recalled that the law on amendments to the Civil Code, which provides for the payment of lost profits and expenses, as well as damages to victims of torture, was adopted by the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis on December 28 and approved by the Senate on March 17.
