Shavkat Mirziyoyev condemns burning of Quran in Sweden
At a meeting with voters in Tashkent, Shavkat Mirziyoyev called the burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden an evil act and strongly condemned it.
"We are absolutely against any forms of radicalism and extremism, showing disrespect for the religious values of different nations and peoples. In particular, we strongly condemn the evil act of burning the Holy Quran in Sweden," said Mirziyoyev.
He noted that such acts, which insult the religion and beliefs of millions of people on Earth, cannot be tolerated.
It should be reminded that on June 28, an Iraqi citizen living in Sweden, Salwan Momika, 37, stomped on the holy book and set several pages alight in front of a mosque in Stockholm.
Earlier, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strictly condemned the Quran burning. Countries including Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Morocco have summoned Swedish ambassadors in protest at the incident.
