Ex-governor of Termiz sentenced to 11 years in prison

Isroil Khudoyberdiyev, who managed the Surkhandarya center for almost 5 years, was found guilty of committing robbery, bribery and other crimes. A total of 18 people were sentenced on this criminal case.

On July 27, in the Termiz city court on criminal proceedings, the verdict was announced on the criminal case against the former governor of the city, Isroil Khudoyberdiyev, and 17 other defendants, the press service of the Supreme Court reported.

According to the verdict, Isroil Khudoyberdiyev was found guilty of committing crimes under Article 167 (embezzlement or robbery by means of fraud), part 3, paragraph “a”; Article 205 (abuse of power or official authority) part 1, part 2, paragraph “a”; Article 206 (deviation from the scope of authority or authority), part 2, paragraph “a”; Article 209 (falsification of employment), part 1, part 2, paragraph “a”; Article 210 (bribery), part 3, paragraph “a”; Article 229-4 (violation of the procedure for granting land), part 2, paragraphs “a”, “b”; Article 243 (legalization of proceeds from criminal activities) of the Criminal Code.

He was deprived of the right to work in official positions and financial responsibility in state organizations for a period of 2 years and 6 months, and was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment. It was determined that the punishment will be served in the colonies of general order.

The remaining 17 defendants were found guilty of crimes under Articles 25,167, 167, 168, 184, 28,205, 205, 206, 28,209, 209 and 229-4 of the Criminal Code; they were sentenced to a fine, correctional work from 1 year 9 months 15 days to 2 years 3 months, and imprisonment from 3 years 6 months to 9 years.

The parties dissatisfied with the verdict have the right to file a complaint and protest to the appellate instance of the Surkhandarya regional court within the procedure and time limit set by the law.

The details of the criminal case, in particular, how much damage the criminals caused to the state and society, are not known.

Isroil Khudoyberdiyev (born in Surkhandarya region in 1981), his two deputies and 8 other people were arrested in the fall of 2022. At that time, it was said that the damage caused by them to the interests of the state was estimated at 35.6 billion soums.

Khudoyberdiyev served as governor of Termiz in 2017-2022. He was released from office on September 21, 2022 and imprisoned on September 24.

Earlier, the former governor of Urganch Shuhrat Abdullayev was sentenced to 3 years, the former governor of Karshi Jamshid Fozilov was sentenced to 4 years, and the former governor of Andijan Bahrom Haydarov was sentenced to 10 years.
