More than 25 thousand stateless live in Uzbekistan – National Human Rights Center

According to the press service of the National Human Rights Center, the government of Uzbekistan is taking decisive steps to reduce and eliminate statelessness in the country. 

Since 2014, out of 100,000 stateless people residing in the country, 83,793 have been granted citizenship and their cases were positively resolved.

As of the first half of 2023, 25,413 stateless persons live in Uzbekistan. This is the largest indicator among the countries of the Central Asian region, and most of these persons are former citizens of the Soviet Union and their descendants.
