“Antistrumin” manufacturer’s activity being inspected
Inspection work on pharmaceutical activity has been started at the enterprise Samo LLC.
Investigations are being carried out on the pharmaceutical activities of Samo LLC, which produced the drug “Antistrumin”, which is suspected of being involved in the mass poisoning of children, the state institution “Pharmaceutical Products Safety Center” under the Ministry of Health reported.
It is noted that during the inspection, compliance with legal documents on pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical activities, including state standards of Necessary Manufacturing Practice, Necessary Distribution Practice, Necessary Storage Practice, and technical regulatory documents within the scope of production, preparation, storage, and wholesale sale of medicinal products, the conditions of the license requirements and conditions, which must be followed by the enterprise, will be studied.
Also, in accordance with the “General Technical Regulation on the Safety of Medicines”, the safety indicators of the drug “Antistrumin” will be analyzed by the Center’s accredited laboratories.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health issued an order to immediately suspend the use of the drug “Potassium iodide 1 mg (0.001) tablet No. 100 (Antistrumin)” which caused the deterioration of the health of dozens of children in Namangan until the issuance of laboratory results. In the letter signed by Deputy Minister Elmira Bositkhonova, it is written that the condition of 71 children who were admitted to the hospital was caused by potassium iodide medicine.
Later, Bositkhonova said that cases of drug or food poisoning have not yet been confirmed, and the main assumption is related to acute respiratory viral infections.
