President Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds talks with Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz
On September 29, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, in Berlin.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for further strengthening multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany.
Particular attention was paid to expanding business partnerships, deepening cooperation in economic, investment, transport, energy, and other areas of interaction.
It was noted that the official visit of the head of Uzbekistan to Berlin in May of this year gave a powerful impetus to the intensification of bilateral ties. In recent years, trade turnover and industrial cooperation between the parties have doubled.
A new portfolio of projects has been agreed upon in the mining, energy, chemical, electrical, textile, and infrastructure sectors.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev outlined a number of new specific proposals for regular joint economic events, implementation of projects in the field of alternative energy, digitalization of agriculture and water resources management, deep processing of raw materials, expansion of financial instruments, strengthening ties between the regions of the two countries, interaction in the field of migration and mobility.
The sides also exchanged views on issues of ensuring regional security, including in Afghanistan.
Following the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz to Uzbekistan.
