Brazil might open embassy in Tashkent
The visit of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Furqat Siddikov to Brazil will be organized by the end of this year.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Furqat Siddiqov held a meeting with the Ambassador of Brazil to the USA, Maria Viotti.
At the meeting, Maria Viotti informed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil has authorized her to receive a copy of the credentials of Uzbekistan’s ambassador in order to speed up his accreditation. The ceremony of handing over the copy of the letter of credence on the appointment of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Brazil (headquarters in Washington) was held at the diplomatic mission of Brazil in the USA.
The Brazilian ambassador noted that the bilateral trade turnover has increased in recent years, reaching $500 million in January-August 2023, and that Uzbekistan has become Brazil's main economic partner in the Central Asian region.
During the talks, it was announced that the Brazilian government is studying the issue of opening an embassy in Tashkent.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to organize the visit of the ambassador of Uzbekistan to Brazil by the end of this year in order to hand over the original copy of the credentials to President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
