From 2024, Shakhrisabz Airport will begin serving passengers. Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated this at a meeting in the Kashkadarya region.

The president noted that the Kashkadarya region can attract tourists all year round, but now the region is limited only to Shakhrisabz and Kitab districts for visiting foreigners. Since the beginning of the year, more than 180 thousand foreign citizens have traveled to Kashkadarya.

In collaboration with German companies, a master plan for three tourism neighborhoods in the Shakhrisabz district has been prepared. To attract 1 million tourists to the region, $450 million is being invested in infrastructure, of which more than 80% is provided by the private sector.

As a result, Shakhrisabz will receive an additional income of 500 billion soums, and 5 thousand jobs will be created.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to launch a number of projects in the Kamashi district and the city of Karshi by the end of the year.

The president also announced the opening of an airport in Shakhrisabz to receive civil aviation.

From January 1, 2024, flights to Samarkand, Bukhara, Khorezm, and the Fergana Valley will be launched from Shakhrisabz, and flights from Tashkent to Karshi will become daily.

New destinations from Shakhrisabz will be served on ATR 72-600 aircraft. As a result, it is expected that the cost of tickets will decrease by 2 times, and the flow of local and foreign tourists will increase by about 3 times.

In addition, next year a new tunnel and roads will be built at the Takhtakaracha Pass. Together with Chinese companies, it is planned to repair the 30-kilometer road between Samarkand and Shakhrisabz.

$122.5 million will be allocated to repair the 100-kilometer section of the Guzor-Bukhara-Nukus-Beyneu road passing through Kashkadarya.

The president set a goal for 2024 to attract up to half a million foreign tourists to the region.
