Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the topic of preparing the energy sector of Uzbekistan for the autumn-winter season, said presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov.

Over the past five years, more than 4 trillion soums have been allocated to modernize power grids. However, there are still 33 thousand outdated transformers and 122 thousand km of problematic power lines across the country.

As a result, up to 12% of generated electricity is lost during transportation, and in 20 districts, power outages occur 1.5 times more often than average.

The Ministry of Energy has been instructed to prepare a 3-year program for updating transformers and power lines, the implementation of which will be monitored by the prosecutor’s office. By the end of 2026, losses are instructed to be reduced to 8%.

In addition, over 170 thousand wholesale subscribers, or more than a quarter of their total number, are not connected to ASKUE. Since the beginning of the year, illegal electricity consumption has amounted to 3.5 billion kWh.

As an example, the president noted an unregistered mining farm in Karmana, which used 5.5 million kWh or 5% of the district’s energy consumption. District governor, prosecutor, heads of the DIA and power grid enterprises were relieved of their positions.

Mirziyoyev instructed the PGO to assess the legality of the actions of the dismissed leaders. Officials are tasked with identifying the factors of energy theft in areas with the greatest volume and creating a system to eliminate them.

The situation in the heat supply sector was also considered. The plan for the country is being fulfilled by 98%, but Andijan, Namangan and Surkhandarya regions are lagging behind.

Within two weeks, it was ordered to complete the repair of boiler houses and heating networks. The President particularly emphasized the need to speed up the installation of modern heating boilers in social institutions and allocate an additional 60 thousand tons of coal to them.
