Qatar, Uzbekistan to cooperate in building materials industry
A QNC top manager visited Tashkent to discuss the implementation of joint investment projects.
Qatar National Cement is interested in organizing joint production in Uzbekistan, the MIIT press service reported.
The head of the ministry, Laziz Kudratov, received the executive director of the company, Essa Caldari, on November 6. Issues of further expansion of cooperation in the relevant field were discussed at the negotiations.
In particular, the prospects for joint projects for the production of building materials were considered. QNC representatives praised the potential of the local industry.
Following the meeting, the company agreed with the government of Uzbekistan on new measures to develop industry cooperation. The parties agreed to begin work on the projects under discussion as soon as possible (details are not provided).
A day earlier, Caldari met with the leadership of the “Uzqurilishmateriallari” association. At the meeting, agreements were reached on the implementation of investment projects and the development of local reserves of raw materials to create innovative, energy-saving products with export potential.
QNC will also help attract foreign specialists for training. Another area of cooperation will be the exchange of experience between laboratories for testing building materials.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan extended the exemption of imported cement from duties until 2025.
Qatar National Cement is the only cement manufacturer in Qatar, founded in 1965. The company produces up to 8 million tons of products per year and provides jobs for 2 thousand employees.
