This forum brings together representatives of almost all countries, international organizations and civil society. Its importance lies in consolidating efforts to combat climate change, mitigate its effects, finance climate policies and transition to green energy.

Climate change is becoming an acute problem for Central Asia, especially in the context of the already existing environmental crisis associated with the drying up of the Aral Sea. Uzbekistan is actively promoting the “green” agenda, introducing measures to adapt key sectors of the economy to climate change, striving for carbon neutrality and increasing the share of renewable energy.

Uzbekistan is actively participating in global efforts to combat environmental problems. In the near future, Samarkand will host the 21st meeting of the Committee to Review the Implementation of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, where delegations from 130 countries will take part.

Next year, the International Climate Forum will be held here to discuss a UN resolution to support Central Asian countries in the fight against climate threats.

At the upcoming UNFCCC-28 in Dubai, Uzbekistan will present initiatives to strengthen the fight against climate change at various levels.

Uzbekistan also supports important initiatives of the leadership of the United Arab Emirates, put forward as the chairman of UNFCCC-28.
