Shavkat Mirziyoyev holds talks with Ilham Aliyev in Baku

The heads of state discussed issues of partnership and promotion of projects in various industries. President Mirziyoyev invited Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan.

On November 24, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as part of his working visit to Baku, held negotiations with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

At the meeting, Aliyev sincerely thanked the President of Uzbekistan for his support and personal participation in the first summit of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).

Mirziyoyev, in turn, congratulated the President of Azerbaijan on his successful chairmanship of SPECA.

The parties discussed issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of friendship and strategic partnership, including the progress in the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.

It is noted that thanks to systematic and productive contacts, Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations have reached a qualitatively new level, filled with specific content.

Thus, since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has increased by 34%. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the automotive, electrical, textile, energy, agriculture, sericulture and other industries. Prospective projects in the field of transport and logistics are being prepared.

The leaders of the two states also exchanged views on new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation. Issues of promoting projects in the chemical, energy, jewelry, mechanical engineering, construction industry, and other areas were considered.

The importance of further expanding cultural and humanitarian exchange was emphasized.

Following the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the President of Azerbaijan to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a time convenient for him.
