“Activities of enterprises and organizations that pollute the environment will be temporarily stopped” – Legislative Chamber
At the next meeting of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, deputies aimed to further improve the environmental situation – the bill “On amendments to certain legislative documents of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was considered in the second reading.
It was noted at the meeting that the expansion of the scale of construction, production and urbanization is causing a sharp increase in the release of pollutants into the natural environment. Accordingly, in order to prevent pollution of the natural environment beyond the normative level, it is necessary to revise the criteria for limiting and suspending the activities of objects that have a harmful effect on nature.
In accordance with this draft law, amendments are made to the legal documents, which provide for the restriction and suspension of the activities of enterprises, organizations, structures and other objects that pollute the natural environment in excess of the normative level for a period of not more than 10 working days.
Deputies said that the adoption of the draft law will allow further improvement of the ecological situation in the country, prevention of danger to the life and health of the population, as well as increasing the responsibility of the competent state bodies in this direction.
At the end of the discussions, the draft law was adopted.
