China to help Uzbekistan create a big data platform in tourism
It is planned to create a special program to attract Chinese tourists to the republic.
Uzbekistan is interested in China’s experience in using “big data” for the tourism sector, the press service of the Committee on Tourism reported.
The chairman of the committee, Umid Shodiyev, had a meeting with the head of the Chinese Academy of Tourism, Lina Zhong. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation.
Guests from Uzbekistan got acquainted with the work of the Tourism Big Data Platform system developed at the academy. As noted in the message, it allows online monitoring of more than 300 indicators and 140 indices relevant to the industry.
The platform was developed by the big data laboratory at the academy, created jointly with the travel agency Ctrip in 2017. The organization calls its goal the use of macro- and microdata, market experience and professional knowledge for the development of tourism.
At the meeting, plans were announced to create a similar platform in Uzbekistan. It is intended to test its capabilities to assess the state of the local tourism industry.
Also, the delegation of the Tourism Committee in Beijing met with the management of leading Chinese travel companies. Representatives of the Chinese Tourism Marketing Association, the Qunar.com platform, the tour operator CYTS Tours and others took part in the negotiations.
The meeting participants agreed to develop a separate strategy to strengthen the presence of Uzbekistan in the tourism market of the PRC. A special master program will be created to attract Chinese tourists and tap into tourism potential.
