Air pollution in Tashkent reaches ‘life-threatening’ level

On December 22, air pollution in Tashkent reached a dangerous level, according to data provided by stations measuring air quality. The IQAir shows that the air pollution level is 18 times higher than the norm set by WHO.

On December 22, the air quality index in the city of Tashkent was recorded at 169. 

The concentration of air pollutants:

  • PM2.5 – 90.2µg/m³
  • PM10 – 88.1µg/m³
  • O3 – 7.9µg/m³
  • NO2 – 0µg/m³
  • SO2 – 15.4µg/m³.

The IQAir shows that the PM2.5 readings are 18 times higher than the standard set by WHO.

It should be recalled that earlier on the evening of October 17, 2022, the PM-2.5 readings in the air of Tashkent increased by 42 times the permissible limit and reached 212 μg/m³.
