Uzbekistan overtakes the USA in terms of high gasoline prices
The price of AI-95 gasoline in Uzbekistan is 2.5 times more expensive than in Turkmenistan, and 2.1 times more expensive than in Kazakhstan. As of January 1, the cheapest gasoline in the world was recorded in Iran (354 soums per liter), the most expensive in Hong Kong (38,371 soums).
As of January 1, 2024, the global average price of 1 liter of premium (AI-95) gasoline is 16,028 soums. This information is provided on the Globalpetrolprices website.
The cheapest gasoline in the world is recorded in Iran (about 354 soums), Libya (388 soums) and Venezuela (433 soums).
The most expensive prices are in Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China (38,371 soums), as well as Monaco (29,110 soums) and Iceland (28,764 soums).
According to the source, the prices of high-quality gasoline in the CIS countries are as follows:
• Turkmenistan – 5,397 soums;
• Kazakhstan – 6,605 soums;
• Azerbaijan – 7,278 soums;
• Russia – 7,631 soums;
• Belarus – 8,819 soums;
• Kyrgyzstan – 9,916 soums;
• Uzbekistan – 13,838 soums;
• Moldova – 16,401 soums.
When comparing the prices, it can be seen that the price of gasoline in Uzbekistan is 2.5 times more expensive than in Turkmenistan, and 2.1 times more expensive than in Kazakhstan. There is no information on prices in Tajikistan.
Also, the price of 1 liter of AI-95 gasoline is 11,267 soums in the USA, 13,104 soums in Afghanistan, 14,174 soums in China, and 14,459 soums in Turkey.
According to the official statistics of Uzbekistan, the price of gasoline in the country increased by 19% in 2023; the price of propane – by 29%, and the price of methane – by 22%.
