Two tax officials sentenced to 5 years for bribery in Samarkand
Tax inspectors demanded $1,000 from the entrepreneur to write off incorrectly accrued tax debts.
In Samarkand, two tax inspectors detained while taking a bribe have been sentenced.
An employee of the tax inspectorate of the Samarkand region told an entrepreneur from the Bulungur district that he would help write off incorrectly accrued tax debt. The taxman demanded $1,000 for his service.
The head of the department of desk tax audits at the tax inspectorate of the Bulungur district said he would help write off the entrepreneur’s debt for almost 300 million soums in collusion with the tax inspector from the Samarkand region.
Tax officers were detained in one of the cafes in Samarkand while receiving an advance payment of $500.
At a court hearing in the Samarkand City Criminal Court, tax inspectors were found guilty under paragraph “c”, Part 2 of Art. 210 of the Criminal Code (Taking a bribe by extortion) and sentenced to 5 years in prison.
