In 2023, more than 17,000 violations were registered in Uzbekistan related to dumping of waste in an unspecified place, dumping of industrial waste. Administrative fines in the amount of 7.6 billion soums were applied to offenders.

Nodirbek Jamburbayev, an employee of the State Environmental Inspection, informed about this in an interview with a Kun.uz reporter.

According to him, in 2023, the detected violations related to waste disposal significantly decreased compared to 2022 (17 thousand).

According to the Administrative Responsibility Code, dumping waste in an unspecified place causes a fine of 1-3 BCAs (from 340 thousand to 1 million soums) to citizens, and 3-5 BCAs (from 1 million to 1.7 million soums) to officials.

“Currently, the draft law developed on the basis of the presidential decree No. 81 envisages increasing administrative fines for dumping waste in unspecified places up to 10 BCAs, and applying financial sanctions to legal entities in the amount of 100-300 times BCAs.

Currently, this bill has passed the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis and has been submitted to the Senate. In it, it is established not only to increase the administrative fines for waste and illegal cutting of trees,” the representative of the ecoinspection said.

It should be recalled that a few days ago, a presidential decree was announced, which envisages important changes in the field of waste.
