"Eternal Bukhara": An ambitious ethnographic park project unveiled in the heart of the city

Bukhara, an ancient city teeming with history, announces the development of a new 32.6-hectare ethnographic tourism center named "Eternal Bukhara." The initiative, reported by the regional administration’s press service, aims to enrich the cultural tapestry of the area and bolster tourism.

The project will feature an ethnographic museum, historical neighborhoods typical of the Bukhara oasis, and a range of services for the local population, including tea houses and national cuisine diners. Traditional drainage systems such as canals and ponds, alongside artisans’ stalls displaying jewelry, embroidery, textile printing, woodcarving, blacksmithing, pottery, painting, and knife making, will recreate the vibrant atmosphere of ancient Bukhara.

The heart of the complex will also feature a musical fountain. The development of the ethnographic park will involve an assembly of international experts and local specialists. All activities within this area will be carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the World Heritage Convention, adopted by UNESCO's General Conference on November 16, 1972.

The press service notes the intention to construct a magnificent recreational park (green garden) in two-thirds of the designated area, where people of Bukhara and visitors can stroll and relax. "The 'Green Bukhara' program ensures that the previously established green spaces and the natural aesthetic of the area will be preserved and further enriched to create a new scenic landscape," reads the regional administration's report.

"Eternal Bukhara" represents a significant stride towards preserving and showcasing the region’s rich historical and cultural heritage, fostering a living connection between the past and present for residents and visitors alike.
