Restoration work begins on Hairatan – Mazar-i-Sharif railway line with support from Uzbekistan
Repair and restoration work on the Hairatan – Mazar-i-Sharif railway line have commenced at the Hairatan station on the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan border.
On February 21, a ceremonial opening event was held to mark the start of the project, attended by representatives of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan Railways JSC.
According to the agreement between the parties, the restoration work will be carried out in phases. Uzbekistan Railways JSC has mobilized 120 workers for the first stage.
The first phase involves the rapid delivery of freight wagons to the "Naibabad" station. For this purpose, comprehensive restoration work will be organized both at the "B" section of the Hairatan station and along 57 km of the railway infrastructure in parallel.
