Largest ethnographic museum in Europe interested in cooperation with Uzbekistan
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Oybek Shakhavdinov met with the Director General of the Hungarian Ethnographic Museum in Budapest, Lajos Kemecsei.
The Ethnographic Museum of Budapest is one of the largest ethnographic museums in Europe. In terms of the volume of funds, the Budapest Ethnographic Museum is one of the leading European research and educational institutions in its field. The museum collection includes almost 250 thousand exhibits. The museum has a grandiose collection of objects of folk culture and art collected during expeditions by scientists and enthusiasts in all regions of the world, from primitive to civilized societies.
During the negotiations, the director of the museum noted that he is a big fan of the ancient history of Uzbekistan. He received with great interest the information about the large-scale work being carried out in Uzbekistan to update the exhibitions of museums in all regions of the country, re-exposition, and create an electronic catalog of museum objects and collections.
The Hungarian museologist announced his readiness to establish cooperation between the Hungarian Ethnographic Museum and museums of Uzbekistan.
The parties agreed to maintain regular contacts and hold joint events aimed at promoting the historical ties between the two countries.
