Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan agree to create a joint railway venture
The parties will mutually benefit from providing cargo terminals for the transportation of goods to China.
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to create a joint venture between the railway administrations of the two countries, the press service of the Kazakh presidential administration reports.
On April 5, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived on a working visit to Khiva. During the meeting with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, issues of accelerating cooperation projects and the implementation of investment agreements and trade contracts were discussed.
The heads of state gave instructions to increase trade turnover, form a long-term program of industrial cooperation and implement infrastructure projects in transport and energy.
The importance of starting practical work on the creation of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation this year and expanding the activities of the joint foreign trade company was also noted at the meeting.
Akorda announced an approved initiative to create a joint venture between the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to develop the Trans-Afghan railway route.
The parties agreed to provide cargo terminals on the Kazakh-Chinese border and in Uzbekistan on a mutually beneficial basis to organize cargo transportation along the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route.
This project will help increase bilateral trade and the volume of goods transported; it will also create favorable conditions for increasing cargo transportation in the southern direction.
