BelAZ planning to launch construction of assembly site in Uzbekistan
BelAZ aims to initiate the construction of an assembly platform for mining equipment production in Uzbekistan in 2024, Spot writes citing Mikhail Dudinetz, the CEO of Haul Trucks, as saying.
Belarus and Uzbekistan will establish a joint venture, with stakes divided on a parity basis. On one side, the partner will be the company Haul Trucks-CA, and on the other, the appointment of an Uzbek partner is expected.
"This will be an assembly site that constitutes a complete assembly cycle of a mining dump truck with large unit assembly, paint chambers, and a testing range for mining equipment," Mikhail Dudinetz elaborated.
The localization level of BelAZ's mining equipment production in the republic will gradually increase and is expected to reach 30% in the future. The project's implementation site is yet to be determined and is being discussed with local partners.
In the first stage, up to 20 dump trucks per year will be produced. The project's capacity is expected to multiply by 20-25% in the future.
The CEO of Haul Trucks noted that the joint project's cost will depend on the level of localization and the premises areas, which are currently being coordinated with partners. The funding is provided on an equal basis.
In February, Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, to localize the production of BelAZ mining equipment in Uzbekistan.
