Energy Ministry to launch a mobile app providing real-time information about operating methane stations
Uzbekistan is developing a mobile application that will indicate whether methane stations are open or closed and the traffic congestion at these locations. Hasan Toshkhojaev, the press secretary for the Ministry of Energy, told Kun.uz that the app would include all 1,329 gas stations from "Hududgazta'minot" across the republic. Drivers will have the app in hand by this winter, he said.
A mobile application that displays around the clock which methane stations under "Hududgazta'minot" are operational will be launched. This was announced by Hasan Toshkhojaev, the head of the information service at the Ministry of Energy, during a press conference on April 22.
"There was a frequent question during the winter months: 'Where is a methane refueling station operating; can you provide us with information?'. From now on, which ones are working and where... Since this is being done in cooperation with Yandex, information about where there are traffic jams will be conveyed online," he stated.
In an additional comment to Kun.uz, Toshkhojaev emphasized that this would operate throughout the republic. According to his words, this app being developed by "Hududgazta'minot" will be integrated into the Yandex Go taxi application. However, the system itself will not be within Yandex; it will be a separate application.
"Specialists are also trying to add this function to the Yandex Go taxi application, so if you have the Yandex Go app, you’ll be able to see where a refueling station is operational. But "Hududgazta'minot" is working on a separate app for methane fueling stations. Integrated with Yandex Go, it will provide real-time information on how much congestion there is, how long you might have to wait and show the most convenient refueling stations from your location,” added Toshkhojaev.
He further mentioned that today, "Hududgazta'minot" manages 1,329 Automatic Gas Filling Compressor Stations (AGFCS) across the republic, and all stations with contracts with the company will be included in the app.
"In the future, if a filling station is not in the app, then it means it has not signed a contract with "Hududgaz" and does not get gas from "Hududgazta'minot" JSC. The application is planned to be launched in the fall-winter season of this year. By winter, drivers will have the app," says the press secretary of the ministry.
According to him, mobile applications are being developed to provide consumers with additional convenience by presenting information on electricity and natural gas consumption. Currently, consumers can access this information through personal accounts on the official websites of "Regional Electric Networks" and "Hududgazta'minot".
It should be recalled that during the autumn-winter season and on cold days, due to reduced natural gas pressure, the operation of methane stations is usually restricted to ensure that gas is delivered primarily to residential households and social sector facilities. This situation leads to very long queues at the stations.
The last restrictions lasted from mid-February until March 7.
