Man sentenced to 15-day arrest for criticizing women and their outfits at Atlas Party
A man who criticized women and their outfits at the Atlas Party event in Tashkent was arrested for 15 days, the MIA press service reported.
On April 20, the Zamonaviy Ayollar (“Modern Women”) club held a thematic event Atlas Party with a demonstration of national costumes with elements of satin patterns.
After this, a video of Dilmurod Mallayev appeared on social networks, who spoke negatively about women’s outfits and “expressed an opinion that humiliates the honor and dignity of women and discredits them”, the Committee on Family and Women said in a statement.
The committee convicted the man and sent an appeal to the internal affairs authorities for a legal assessment.
Later, Dilmurod Mallayev apologized for insulting women. “I realized the consequences of my actions. God willing, I won’t repeat this again. From now on, I will mind my own affairs and businesses”, he said.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the Atlas Party participants filed a statement so that law enforcement agencies take legal measures against the 36-year-old man.
On April 23, he was invited to the Shaykhantakhur district DIA, where he stated that he spoke about women and their outfits based on his personal religious views.
The Shaykhantakhur district criminal court found the man guilty under Article 183 of the Administrative Responsibility Code (minor hooliganism) and sentenced him to 15 days of arrest.
