Poachers attack two environmental inspectors on Syrdarya River
Two inspectors of the Syrdarya water basin branch of the Tashkent Regional Ecology Department were attacked by poachers on April 29, the press service of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan reported.
During a raid in the area of the Syrdarya River in the Akkurgan district, the head of the branch, D. Zokhidov, and the chief state inspector, T. Buriyev, discovered men illegally fishing using fishing nets and a motor boat.
When the inspectors approached them in a motor boat, the intruders attacked them and pushed them into the water. After this, the poachers set fire to the rubber boat and fled from the scene, the report said.
To identify the offenders and provide a legal assessment of the situation, documents were sent to the prosecutor’s office of the Tashkent region and the regional police department.
According to the PGO press secretary, Khayot Shamsutdinov, the prosecutor’s office of Tashkent region is conducting an investigation into this fact. Based on the results of the inspection, a legal assessment will be given.
