Asakabank to be privatized
Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated at the Tashkent International Investment Forum that an agreement had been signed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the privatization of Asakabank, one of the largest banks in Uzbekistan.
The third Tashkent International Investment Forum has been started with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. At this moment, the president is delivering a speech at the plenary session.
The head of state touched upon banking and finance. In recent years, many private banks have opened in the country. Leading European banks have entered the market. There are a number of digital banks operating.
As part of the forum, an agreement was signed with the EBRD on the privatization of Asakabank, one of the largest banks in Uzbekistan.
Approaches to the development of the capital market are being revised taking into account the demand for financial resources. Uzbekistan is working on the development of international financial instruments.
“We expect that the flow of foreign investment will increase several times, the quality of corporate governance will improve, and new leading banking and financial institutions will emerge,” the President said.
