Saudi’s Vision Invest may take over management of Andijan Airport
The Saudi company is interested in the reconstruction of the airport based on a public-private partnership.
Vision Invest is interested in the reconstruction and management of Andijan International Airport based on a public-private partnership (PPP), according to the press service of the Ministry of Transport.
During the Tashkent International Investment Forum, Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov and the head of the Saudi company Vision Invest, Omar Al Midani, discussed the PPP project in the field of transport infrastructure.
Following the negotiations, a preliminary agreement was signed to research and prepare project proposals within six months.
Under the terms of the agreement, the conformity of the documents presented by the Saudi investor, including the technical and economic justification (TEJ), to the national interests of Uzbekistan will be studied in accordance with the legislation on PPPs. A final decision on continuing cooperation will be made afterward.
In November 2023, there were reports of Vision Invest's plans to open a regional office in Tashkent. The company is working on a number of investment projects in the fields of energy, water resource management, infrastructure, and transport.
In January, the Ministry of Transport and Vision Invest signed an agreement to prepare estimate documentation for the "New Tashkent" airport development project.
In February, at a meeting with the president, plans were announced for the modernization and transfer to private management of the airports of Bukhara, Namangan, Urgench, and Andijan.
On May 2, Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about the development of projects jointly with foreign investors for the development and construction of new air harbors in Tashkent, Bukhara, and Urgench.
