Part-time education to be phased out

Changes are also expected regarding the requirement of a foreign language certificate for admission to master’s and doctoral studies.

Quotas for part-time education in Uzbekistan are determined not to exceed the quota allocated for full-time education.

The form of part-time education will be phased out by expanding the distance education form and introducing the extended education form. Officials of higher education spoke about it at the press conference on May 8.

Expected changes regarding the requirement of a foreign language certificate for admission to master’s and doctoral studies were also announced at the conference. According to it:

•  the certificate requirement is canceled for students who have completed the educational program in a foreign language;
•  depending on the nature of the field, the requirement for a certificate in the fields of culture, art, sports, education, health, production, engineering, agriculture, veterinary medicine, architecture and construction, physics and natural sciences, and transport services is lowered by one level to B1 level;
•  certificate requirement is kept at C1 level in foreign languages, B2 level in exact sciences, biology, mathematics, law, journalism, information and communication technologies and economics.
